On this occasion Cardinal Bozanic expressed satisfaction, adding that these two documents were a kind of supplement to the agreements which the Holy See and the Republic of Croatia signed in the 1990s.
These treaties between Zagreb and the Vatican define the implementation of other bilateral agreements and the conclusion of other sub-treaties regulating the concretisation of the agreements.
Today's act of signing is evidence of the growing democracy in Croatia as democracy is based on agreements and the commitment to what has been agreed, said Zagreb Archbishop, Cardinal Bozanic.
Prime Minister Sanader also described today's agreements as a step forward in the democratisation of Croatia.
In this way we meet our moral obligation, particularly with regard to Church books which were confiscated in 1945 from not only the Zagreb Archdiocese but also from other dioceses in Croatia, the premier added.
He added that the Croatian authorities would like to do all that was necessary in the field of the relations between the state and the Church in compliance with what was signed in agreements with the Holy See.
Expressing satisfaction with the signing of the contract on spiritual guidance in hospitals and similar institutions, Sanader said that if Croatian citizens belonging to other religious groups would like the same, the Croatian state would see that this was made possible for them.
Sanader also wished the best to the Catholic faithful for tomorrow's All Saints' Day, which is a national holiday in the country.
The agreements were signed in the offices of the secretariat of the Catholic Bishops' Conference in the presence of top Church dignitaries and senior government officials.
