He was speaking about Serbia-Croatia relations, the position of the Serb minority in Croatia and the Croat minority in Serbia, but did not give any example or information to back his claim.
Ladjevic also commented on a declaration on the position of Croats in the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina, issued by the Democratic Alliance of Vojvodina Croats on October 25. He said the declaration was not based on facts and did not illustrate the rights which the Croat community in Vojvodina and Serbia actually enjoyed. He added that everything in the declaration could be refuted with arguments.
According to Ladjevic, the declaration is an attempt to draw attention to the political activity of the alliance, which he said was only one of several political parties within the Croat community. He added the declaration did not reflect the position of most Vojvodina Croats and should therefore not be given too much attention.
Ladjevic said it was another matter if the alliance issued the declaration to make the position of Vojvodina Croats a topic of talks between the prime ministers Vojislav Kostunica of Serbia and Ivo Sanader of Croatia, to take place in Zagreb soon. He added the alliance would certainly not draw the agenda of the meeting.
Serbia and Montenegro's minister for human and minority rights, Rasim Ljajic, has said this week he will meet representatives of the Croat minority on Monday to discuss the declaration and the minority's problems.
