Bosnian police confirm arrest of three men suspected of planning terrorist activities

The Interior Ministry of the Bosnian Croat-Muslim entity on Thursday confirmed the apprehension of one Swede, one Turk and one citizen of Bosnia-Herzegovina giving only a brief explanation that they were believed to be involved in terrorist activities.

The police of the Bosnian Federation also confirmed that they had searched two building in a wider Sarajevo area and that during this operation they had found some explosives, arms, ammunition and other military equipment.

Dnevni Avaz daily reported today that one of the three arrested men had planned terrorist attacks against the embassy of an EU member country in Sarajevo.

According to the daily, the suspect has a criminal record, and while he stayed in Germany, Spain and France his activities were under police surveillance.

The federal police are still investigating this case and will inform the public about the probe's results on time, the Interior Ministry reported.

The European Union Police Mission (EUPM) in Bosnia-Herzegovina commended the federal Interior Ministry for the successful anti-terrorist operation.

The Office of the High Representative to Bosnia (OHR) has stated that the Bosnian federal Interior Ministry cooperated with relevant international organisations while carrying out this operation.
