Following an order by prosecutor John McNair, court police searched for Jelavic at his house in the southern Bosnian town of Mostar on Thursday afternoon but did not find him, police officials said.
The Bosnian State Agency for Research and Documentation (SIPA) joined the search operation, the spokesman for this police and security organisation, Admir Katica, told Hina. SIPA is collecting operative information about Jelavic's possible whereabouts.
After releasing him from detention in May, the trial chamber bound Jelavic to report to the police department in Mostar on a daily basis so as to provide guarantees that he would not escape.
The spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Lejla Trivun, told Hina that today was the first day that Jelavic failed to report to the Mostar police.
