In Tokyo, the group met Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki, Justice Minister Chieko Nohno, members of the foreign affairs and economy committees of parliament's lower house and the upper house administration committee.
In Osaka the group was received by the mayor and the county prefect, and held meetings at the employers' association of the Kansai region.
During talks with the finance minister, the group said they would like Japanese banks to enter the Croatian market at a faster pace, while the justice minister informed them of the implementation of the agreement with the United States regarding the extradition of American soldiers to the International Criminal Court.
The Japanese business people were informed that they could export goods produced in Croatia to the European Union market without customs based on Croatia's Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU.
The Croatian delegation also highlighted Croatia's strategic position as Japanese goods' gateway to Europe and the fact that Japanese ships could shorten their way to Europe by three to five days if they used the ports of Rijeka and Ploce instead of Rotterdam and Hamburg.
The talks in Osaka also addressed connecting the region of Kansai with four counties in Dalmatia. The Japanese were acquainted with Croatia's tourist attractions and informed that 50,000 Japanese tourists visited Croatia this year. This figure could be increased with the introduction of a direct flight between Zagreb or Split and Osaka, for which purpose the deputy director of the airport in Osaka arrived in Zagreb.
