Vornin arrived in Croatia today for a two-day visit at Mesic's invitation. He will also attend a summit of Central European presidents which Zagreb will host on Friday and Saturday.
Voronin thanked Croatia for its support to Moldova on its road to the EU and said Moldova supported Croatia as well. He accepted Mesic's offer to relay Croatia's experience in the EU integration process.
The two presidents also discussed the advancement of bilateral relations, notably in the economy, EU integration, and the fight against global terrorism.
The two officials agreed Croatia-Moldova economic relations were insufficiently developed, unlike the political cooperation, which they said was at an enviable level. Mesic voiced hope today's meeting would boost economic cooperation.
He said today's talks also addressed one of Moldova's big issues, the separatist region of Trans-Dniester.
According to Mesic, to solve this problem Moldova needs the assistance of the international community and the European Union, but primarily the assistance of the countries bordering the region -- Russia and Ukraine. He voiced hope the issue would be resolved by political means.
