SARAJEVO, Oct 10 (Hina) - The Prosecutor's Office of
Bosnia-Herzegovina does not plan to refer to Croatia's judiciary any case
against Ante Jelavic, including the case involving Herzegovacka Bank which is
considered closed after the delivery of the verdict, international prosecutor
for organised crime and corruption John McNair said on Monday. The
trial of Jelavic is closed and there will be no referral of the case to
Croatia, McNair told BHT 1 national television. Based on McNair's indictment, a
former member of the Bosnian collective presidency and president of the
Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ante Jelavic, was sentenced to
ten years in prison for embezzling financial assistance that Croatia had sent
to Croats in Bosnia.
McNair said Jelavic's case only proved that Bosnia and Croatia should
sign an agreement on the extradition of people convicted of crime as soon as
possible.
