The agreement was reached at a two-day meeting of a Croatian-Slovene commission for international road transport during which officials from the two countries agreed to exchange another 1,500 permits for this and 5,000 for next year.
We have found an appropriate solution regarding permits for third countries, Croatia's Assistant Transport Minister Igor Maly said.
"We have made major progress and it is only a matter of time when we will be negotiating about cooperation rather than restrictions in the transport service market," the head of the Slovene delegation, Milos Pregl, said.
The agreement puts an end to a ten-month "war of hauliers", which had broken out due to different interests of hauliers' associations from the two countries. Brussels had instructed the two countries to solve the problem bilaterally.
