WEU delegation visits Sabor

ZAGREB, Sept 26 (Hina) - The Western European Union (EU) committee forparliamentary cooperation and public relations on Monday paid aworking visit to the Croatian parliament.
ZAGREB, Sept 26 (Hina) - The Western European Union (EU) committee for parliamentary cooperation and public relations on Monday paid a working visit to the Croatian parliament.

During their visit, WEU committee representatives held talks with members and the head of the Croatian parliamentary delegation to the Assembly of the Western European Union, and the chairmen of the Sabor committees on foreign affairs, European integration, inter-parliamentary cooperation and internal policy and national security.

"The aim of the visit is to strengthen cooperation between the WEU Assembly and the Sabor," said the head of the Croatian parliamentary delegation to the WEU Assmbly, Kresimir Cosic.

We have thoroughly informed our colleagues of changes and processes in the armed forces and the security and defence sectors, he added.

According to Cosic, the WEU officials wished Croatia speedy admission to the European Union and NATO.

The head of the WEU delegation, Milos Budin, said that Croatia was a step away from becoming an EU member and voiced hope that on 2 October Croatia would receive a positive answer from the EU task force for evaluation Croatia's cooperation with the Hague-based UN war crimes tribunal.

Budin said that through its status of a WEU associate partner Croatia had made a step forward in its efforts to join European integration processes, and praised the country for everything it had done in achieving political stability, according to a press release issued by the Croatian parliament.
