THE HAGUE/ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - The International Criminal Tribunalfor the former Yugoslavia's (ICTY) Trial Chamber granted theProsecution"s motion to join six cases involving nine accused for theSrebrenica massacre together in one
indictment, the ICTY reported onThursday.
THE HAGUE/ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - The International Criminal
Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia's (ICTY) Trial Chamber granted the
Prosecution"s motion to join six cases involving nine accused for the
Srebrenica massacre together in one indictment, the ICTY reported on
Thursday. The joint trial of the nine accused generals and officers
of the Bosnian Serb Army - the main operatives in the mass execution of over
8,000 Bosniaks detained after the fall of Srebrenica in July 1995 - will
require the expansion of one of the ICTY court rooms or the building of a new
one.
Eight indictees - Vujadin Popovic, Ljubisa Beara, Drago Nikolic,
Ljubomir Borovcanin, Radivoje Miletic, Milan Gvero, Vinko Pandurevic and
Milorad Trbic - are in the ICTY detention unit, while the ninth accused -
Zdravko Tolimir - is still at large.
