ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - Mine removal experts have begun work in a
suspected mine-infested area in the village of Nustar near the eastern town of
Vinkovci, the Croatian Mine Action Centre announced in a press release on
Thursday. The project was made possible by the French government,
which has donated 100,000 euros to the Croatian Mine Action Centre to comb
113,190 square metres of land in Nustar for mines left over from the 1991-1995
Croatian war of independence.
The project is to be completed by 31 October.
Since 1998 France has invested about 800,000 euros in six demining
projects.
