NEW YORK, Sept 15 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic has met several heads of state or government attending a United Nations summit in New York.

On Wednesday, Mesic met Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom for talks on relations between the two countries.

Speaking to Croatian reporters, Mesic said that Croatia and Hungary had the best of relations, and that Hungarians were interested in using Croatian seaports, especially the southern port of Ploce.

Solyom reaffirmed Hungary's support for the opening of EU membership talks with Croatia as soon as possible.
