ZAGREB, Sept 13 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament will start its first session after the summer recess on September 21 with a debate on a set of laws on local elections. The session will last three weeks, the Sabor Presidency decided at a meeting on Tuesday.

The agenda of the 16th parliamentary sitting, which will end on October 7 with a special session dedicated to Independence Day, consists of some 50 items, including 14 from the previous session.

Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks said after today's meeting that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had not submitted for parliamentary debate a previously announced proposal on giving a vote of no confidence to Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polancec, whom it considers responsible for the failed privatisation of the Liburnia Riviera hotel company.

He said that if the SDP made its request formal, the request would be included in the agenda, but stressed that the opposition would not have the qualified majority to replace Polancec.

After the government submits an integral report, the parliament will also discuss voucher privatisation, including the Liburnia Riviera case, Seks said.

The Sabor will also discuss the audit of the privatisation process.

At the same time, it will discuss a government proposal that the deadline for the audit of the privatisation process be extended by one year.

The agenda also includes a proposal by the Party of Rights (HSP) for Croatia to expand its jurisdiction in the Adriatic, that is, declare an exclusive economic zone in response to the Slovene government's decision to declare a continental shelf in the Adriatic.

Seks added that PM Ivo Sanader and the leaders of parliamentary parties agreed at a recent meeting that a two-month moratorium should be imposed on that issue.
