After he presented his letter of credence, Degert said he was looking forward to the continuation of very good cooperation with Croatia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and added that he was happy to be the EC ambassador to Croatia in this interesting period.
Minister Grabar-Kitarovic expressed hope that support among Croatians for Croatia's European Union membership would rise with the start of accession negotiations.
She pointed out the importance which Zagreb attached to the cooperation with the European Commission in efforts to complete reforms and meet political criteria.
Degert voiced hope that the EU-Croatia entry talks would start as soon as possible.
Also today, Grabar-Kitarovic received the new Danish ambassador to Croatia, Bern Kjeldesen, who is the first residential Danish ambassador in Zagreb.
