Katsu, who arrived in Croatia on Thursday, was accompanied by Croatian Finance Minister Ivan Suker and local officials during his tour of eastern Croatia. They discussed cooperation between the World Bank on the one side and the Croatian government and local authorities on the other.
Katsu described as useful the first project which was aimed at the reconstruction of formerly war-stricken areas of Slavonia and Baranja.
He expressed hope that new projects would encourage local authorities to set up new companies and businesses, which would also help in the social cohesion of local communities.
On the first day of his stay in Croatia, the World Bank official held talks with Health Minister Neven Ljubicic on the implementation of reforms in the national health system and a project which the World Bank supported for this purpose.
Shigeo Katsu will be in Croatia until 4 September.
