During today's ceremony in Pristina, General Kerambon said that coexistence and dialogue between local communities are key to a successful future of Kosovo.
The new KFOR commander said that the main challenge for him would be now the continuation of the process of restoring confidence among people in Kosovo.
Present at the Pristina ceremony were the commander of NATO's South Wing, Admiral Harry Ulrich, French Defence Minister Michele Alliot-Marie and other senior international and Kosovo officials.
For the first time since the deployment of international peace-keepers in Kosovo, the chief-of staff of the armed forces of Serbia-Montenegro, General Dragan Paskas, attended the ceremony of the transfer of the command over KFOR units. Some associations of Kosovo Albanians strongly protested against his attendance at the event, saying that General Paskas represented an army that committed crimes in the province.
