BANJA LUKA, Aug 2 (Hina) - Representatives of the federation of
Bosnian associations in Sweden, who are taking part in the ongoing Days of the
Banja Luka Diaspora in this northwestern Bosnian city, on Tuesday sent letters
to the city mayor, Dragoljub Davidovic, the local police, the EU Force (EUFOR)
and the Office of the High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, protesting
against Sunday's marches of local Serbs who celebrated the gold medal won by
the national team of Serbia-Montenegro (SiCG) at the world water polo
championships. About 3,000 fans organised the celebration in
downtown Banja Luka, chanting "This is Serbia" and "Kosovo is the heart of
Serbia".
Three cars packed with Serb fans and decorated with Serb flags,
escorted by a police car, drove through the mainly Muslim-populated residential
area of Gornji Seher, with the fans shouting "Balije", a derogatory term for
Bosniaks, and "This is Serbia".
