BELGRADE, July 29 (Hina) - Serbian President Boris Tadic has urged the leaders of other countries to condemn crimes committed against Croatian Serbs in the 1995 operation "Storm" on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the operation on August 5, in the same way that he has condemned crimes committed in the eastern Bosnian enclave of Srebrenica.

"Nothing more, but nothing less either," Tadic said in an interview for the Belgrade-based tabloid "Kurir" of Friday.

"As regards 'Storm', just as in the case of Srebrenica, I do not intend to discuss the legitimacy of military goals and operations. I only want to know if innocent people were killed in that operation. I want to know why refugee columns which did not threaten anyone were shelled and why people were executed by being shot in the back. I am interested in ordinary people who sought shelter of any kind and who were executed only because they were of a different ethnic background," Tadic said.

On July 11 Tadic attended a commemoration marking the 10th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre. Although, as stated by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Tadic was expected to apologise for the crimes committed by Serb forces against Muslims in Srebrenica, the Serbian president condemned the crimes before his visit, but did not give any statements while in Srebrenica.
