A total of 2,170 firefighters from 31 countries took part in the competitions, which began on July 17.
The participants were also addressed by the president of the International Association of Fire and Rescue Services, Walter Egger, Varazdin County prefect Radimir Cacic, and Varazdin mayor Ivan Cehok.
The 16th International Youth Fire Brigades Competitions will take place in Sweden's Revinge, and the 14th International Fire Brigades Competitions in Ostrava, the Czech Republic.
Earlier in the day, President Mesic visited the Varazdin Free Zone.
