Croatian prime minister to visit U.S. next week

ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader will be inthe United States next week for a working visit during which he willmeet US President George W. Bush.
ZAGREB, July 15 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader will be in the United States next week for a working visit during which he will meet US President George W. Bush.

The two presidents are scheduled to meet on Monday, 18 July, the Government's Public Relations Office announced in a press release on Friday.

Also on Monday, in his capacity as president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party, Sanader will attend a conference of the International Democratic Union (IDU), an international alliance of conservative, Christian Democrat, centrist and centre-right parties. The HDZ is expected to be admitted to the organisation as a member.

On Tuesday, the Croatian prime minister is due to meet Stephen Heatley, US Presidential Adviser on National Security, members of the Croatian congressional caucus, and members of the managing board of the firm General Dynamics.

On Wednesday, Sanader is scheduled to deliver a talk on Croatia's efforts to join the European Union and NATO at the Foreign Policy Council in Washington.

The prime minister will be accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Bozo Biskupic, and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Hido Biscevic.

Biskupic is due to meet Warren Miller, Chairman of the US Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad, and Dan Mariaschin, Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of B'nai B'rith.

Biscevic is scheduled to meet Pierre-Richard Prosper, Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues, and Steven Rademaker, Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control.
