The two mayors signed a joint declaration on cooperation between the two cities and an agreement on cooperation between the Zagreb branch of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia and the Vienna branch of the Social Democratic party of Austria.
Intensive cooperation, frequent meetings and an exchange of information mark the friendly relations between Zagreb and Vienna, the two mayors told reported after their meeting.
The Viennese mayor said that the declaration on cooperation was a continuation of the great friendship and that it also represented progress in cooperation in the economy, transport, the building of infrastructure.
Mayor Haeupl said he would welcome the start of Croatia's EU entry talks, adding that the EU was currently facing big difficulties because of the European Constitution and that it had to deal with itself first. He noted, however, that the enlargement and the building of a European model must continue.
The joint declaration on cooperation between Vienna and Zagreb, which would be ratified by the city authorities and the City Assembly, will enable intensification of economic, cultural, environmental and scientific cooperation, Bandic said.
