ZAGREB, July 4 (Hina) - The Croatian national oil company Ina will this week increase prices of petrol with 98 and 95 octane numbers, which it must partly import and the company will not apply its highest margins. Thus, a rise in prices will be between one and two percent, namely nine to 10 lipa (0,09 to 0,1 kuna) per litre, while the prices of diesel petrol will not be changed, the Ina CEO, Tomislav Dragicevic said on Monday.

After he held a meeting with Croatian Economy and Labour Minister Branko Vukelic, Dragicevic told reporters that they had agreed on "corrections so as to cut margins to an extent which will not cause disorder on the market."

Ina has the margin of 60 lipa (0.6) per litre of petroleum products.

Minister Vukelc said that analyses which his ministry had carried out showed that there was no reason for a drastic rise in the price of petroleum products.

We have analysed all factors which have an effect on the price, and we have asked for minimum corrections (of the margin) which would not threaten the business performance of Ina, Vukelic said reiterating that the government would intervene in case that prices of petrol exceed eight kuna.

Trends on the world markets are, unfortunately, such that they further push the exchange rate of the dollar and the price of oil, but I have asked Ina management for absolutely lowest corrections of the prices and only where necessary, the minister said.

He added that the talks had also focused on the prices of heating oil and blue diesel. The price of the former will not be changed, while the price of the latter is to be cut with regard to the ongoing works in agricultural fields.

The minister reiterated that prices of petrol would mildly go up, while prices of diesel petrol will be unchanged.

Ina CEO Dragicevic said the meeting had been held so as to see how rules regulating the formation of prices and their application could affect the economy.

Power and its products are expensive in the world and their prices will go up and this cannot be prevented by some actions in Croatia, and the market principles for power must be applied regardless of whether and how much the prices of petrol will today go up, Dragicevic said.

Asked whether correction of prices would undermine Ina's profitability, Dragicevic said that the company's results would be positive in the end.
