PODGORICA, June 14 (Hina) - Montenegro's Helsinki Committee for Human Rights asked parliament on Tuesday to consider Montenegro's involvement and responsibility in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, and to investigate the role in the crime of the Supreme Defence Council, of which the then Montenegrin President Momir Bulatovic was a member.

Committee chairman Slobodan Franovic told Radio Free Europe the Montenegrin parliament had the obligation to adequately treat the Srebrenica issue by making sure that Montenegrins who were connected with the massacre on various grounds were brought to justice.

He urged shedding light on the massacre, saying the way the Serbian parliament was doing it indicated there was no political will to discover the truth.

Bosnian Serb troops killed close to 8,000 Muslims in Srebrenica, eastern Bosnia-Herzegovina, in July 1995.
