BELGRADE, May 20 (Hina) - The Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro onFriday ratified an agreement with Croatia on the protection of therights of the Serbian and Montenegrin minorities in Croatia and theCroatian minority in Serbia and Montenegro.
BELGRADE, May 20 (Hina) - The Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro on Friday ratified an agreement with Croatia on the protection of the rights of the Serbian and Montenegrin minorities in Croatia and the Croatian minority in Serbia and Montenegro.

The agreement was supported by 54 MPs from Serbia and 18 from Montenegro, while deputies from the Radical Party of ICTY indictee Vojislav Seselj voted against.

The agreement guarantees rights in the area of culture and education, the right to use the mother tongue, and the right to information and scientific research of the heritage of national minorities.

The agreement was signed during a visit by Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader to Serbia and Montenegro in late 2004.
