Pusic dismissed announcements of her resignation as "wrong speculation," adding that last night the party's presidency had unanimously accepted her platform of activities until the next parliamentary election.
Commenting on the election results in Zagreb, she said the HNS managed to maintain the level of support it had received at the last parliamentary election and that this was a good starting point for the party to increase its influence.
Pusic said that the number of HNS representatives in local councils had increased by 50 per cent from 2001, citing particularly good results in the northwestern counties of Medjimurje and Varazdin.
Speaking of post-election coalitions, the HNS president said that her party should form coalitions with its traditional partners.
She added that there was a realistic possibility of the HNS receiving the support of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in the eastern city of Osijek in order to "prevent Branimir Glavas (a local power broker who was recently expelled from HDZ membership) and his violent policies from taking over Osijek and Osijek-Baranja County".
