ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - Polling stations throughout Croatia closed at19:00 hours Sunday and slightly over four million eligible voters hadan opportunity to vote for representatives in municipal, city andcounty assemblies.
ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - Polling stations throughout Croatia closed at 19:00 hours Sunday and slightly over four million eligible voters had an opportunity to vote for representatives in municipal, city and county assemblies.

The fourth local elections since Croatia gained independence over a decade ago were held in 570 constituencies. Voters elected 8,377 local representatives among about 64,000 candidates, eight per each seat.

Media blackout was in force until 19:00 pm Sunday and covered the release or estimate of election results.

The turnout was relatively low with 28.5 percent of voters casting their ballots until 16:00 hrs.

The elections were held in a tolerant and peaceful atmosphere.
