ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - The State Secretary for Political Issues at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Hido Biscevic, met Macedonian Deputy Foreign Minister Fuad Hasanovic in Skopje on Friday for regular bilateral consultations.

The talks focused on a series of bilateral and multilateral foreign policy issues, with the two countries reaffirming their mutual support of each other within international and regional organisations, particularly in their efforts to win full membership of the European Union and NATO, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Particular attention was devoted to the situation in Southeast Europe, and the two officials agreed that maintaining European prospects in accordance with the Thessaloniki Declaration was the only politically sustainable basis for the lasting stabilisation of the region.

Biscevic and Hasanovic pointed out that in seeking solutions to the remaining outstanding issues, priority should be given to the interests of the whole region with a view to strengthening security, stability and democratic standards.

The officials agreed that the relations between the two countries were very good and that economic and cultural cooperation was constantly increasing.

It was confirmed that Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski and other high-level officials would soon visit Zagreb.
