ZAGREB, April 18 (Hina) - Croatia's national coordinator for NATO, Pjer Simunovic, and Assistant Defence Minister Igor Pokaz met with NATO experts and representatives of member countries in Brussels on Monday to discuss the current reorganisation of Croatia's Armed Forces and Defence Ministry as part of adjustment for NATO membership.

The two Croats informed the NATO representatives of what Croatia had done in defence planning, how it is applying Membership Action Plan provisions, and about the reform of the Armed Forces and the Defence Ministry. The talks also addressed Croatia's participation in international missions, regional cooperation, the development of the air force, providing for surplus labour, and plans to cede surplus facilities to the civil authorities.

Simunovic said the signatories to the US-Adriatic Charter -- Croatia, Macedonia and Albania -- would soon send a joint 11-strong military and medical team to Afghanistan.

Pokaz said that instead of updating the M84 tank, Croatia was considering the manufacturing of armoured vehicles on wheels in Slavonski Brod's Djuro Djakovic plant and was therefore looking for strategic partners. He added two foreign companies had applied for the job and that the offers were being considered.
