After the ceremony Kasum Cana, who is a representative of the Roma Culture Centre, said that all of that was only for the purpose of blurring the facts. He added that last time the authorities adopted a national programme for the Roma but forgot to allocate the funds and now they had the action plan but the Roma remained "hungry, thirsty and uneducated".
Nazif Memedi said on Wednesday at a news conference organised by the Office for National Minorities that the ceremony presenting the action plan "The Decade For The Integration Of The Roma 2005-2015" was held so as to show that the implementation of that plan would help improve the quality of the life of the Roma.
Memedi, the head of the network of Roma associations, said that everybody should help the government to carry out that plan so as to improve conditions of the housing, health care, education and employment of the Roma, and that the Croatian government was intending to earmark 60 million kuna for that purpose.
The head of the office for minorities, Milena Klajner, said that all necessary funds for plans and projects would be ensured.
She added that about three million kuna were earmarked for the implementation of Roma programmes this year, and some more funds would be raised as donations.
