VUKOVAR, April 22 (Hina) - Vukovar-Srijem County prefect Nikola
Safer and the chairman of the Committee on European Integration, International
and Regional Cooperation of the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina, Nenad
Canak, met in eastern Croatia's Vukovar on Friday to discuss joint cooperation
projects. Safer told the press the two border regions would continue
to cooperate in line with the protocol signed three years ago.
He said the projects concerned demining along the state border, opening
two new border crossings, linking the universities of Osijek, Subotica and
Novi Sad, and reconstructing the Erdut-Bogojevo bridge.
Canak said the cooperation between the two regions, which are members
of the Assembly of European Regions, proved that it was easier to solve
problems through interregional cooperation than at the state level.
