ZAGREB, April 20 (Hina) - A delegation of the Turkish NationalAssembly's Committee on the EU, headed by chairman Yasar Yakis, onWednesday visited the Croatian parliament, where they met the chairmanof the Committee on
Inter-parliamentary Cooperation, Milorad Pupovac,and the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and head of theCroatian-Turkish friendship group, Mario Zubovic.
ZAGREB, April 20 (Hina) - A delegation of the Turkish National
Assembly's Committee on the EU, headed by chairman Yasar Yakis, on Wednesday
visited the Croatian parliament, where they met the chairman of the Committee
on Inter-parliamentary Cooperation, Milorad Pupovac, and the chairman of the
Foreign Affairs Committee and head of the Croatian-Turkish friendship group,
Mario Zubovic. The parliament's public relations office said in a
statement the two sides agreed that Croatia and Turkey should establish close
cooperation and exchange experiences with regard to EU integration, without
posing an obstacle to one another in the evaluation of their individual
achievements in any stage of the negotiating process.
Yakish said his country strongly supported Croatia's efforts to join
NATO and expressed confidence that Croatia would join the EU in 2007 or 2009 at
the latest.
The Turkish delegation also met the chairman of the Committee on
European Integration, Neven Mimica, and members of the Committee.
The Turkish delegation was today also received by President Stjepan
Mesic.
