ZAGREB, April 13 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks on Wednesday received his Austrian counterpart Andreas Khol for talks on intensifying relations between the two parliaments and Croatia's European Union integration.

Khol is on a reciprocal visit to Croatia at Seks's invitation.

Speaking to the press after the talks, Khol said Croatian-Austrian political relations were excellent, intensive and friendly. He added Croatia had made notable economic headway.

He also said Austria wholeheartedly supported Croatia's admission to the European Union.

According to Khol, Austria believes Croatia is cooperating fully with the Hague war crimes tribunal. Austria is a member of an EU task force to evaluate Croatia's cooperation with the UN court. Khol said the task force would become operational soon.

"Together we will make every effort so that (Croatia's) negotiations with the European Union can begin as early as June this year," said Khol.

He invited Seks to attend a meeting of the Austrian, Czech, Hungarian, Slovene, Polish and Slovak parliamentary speakers in Bled, Slovenia in June, as well as a regional parliamentary meeting in Vienna in October.

Seks accepted the invitations, saying Khol's visit was a further contribution to the "advancement of the excellent political, friendly, economic and cultural relations between Croatia and Austria".

Khol is also taking part in the Crans Montana Forum in Zagreb, which is taking place from April 13 to 15. Attending the event are business people and politicians from the EU, Southeast Europe, Africa and other countries. They are exchanging views on EU enlargement, the economy, regional cooperation and stability, and promotion of democracy.

The Austrian delegation was also received by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and the chairman of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, Gordan Jandrokovic.
