KARLOVAC, April 15 (Hina) - Persons renting their rooms and apartments in tourist resorts will this year pay annual lump sums in tourist taxes ranging from 150 to 300 kuna per person, the Croatian government decided at a session in Karlovac on Friday.

The amount will depend on the category of the tourist resort in question - persons renting rooms and apartments in the most attractive tourist destinations will pay the highest lump sum of 300 kuna, while the lowest lump sum will be paid in the least attractive resorts.

Next year temporary tourist residence fees will be the same as this year - between four and seven kuna per person. The lump sum for berth fees will remain the same in 2006 as this year - 400 kuna.

The government today decided to grant Karlovac County ownership of the premises of a local barracks, where the county authorities are expected to establish an entrepreneurial zone.

Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said that Karlovac County was one of the few counties which exported more than it imported and promised continued support for infrastructure projects in the county.

The government proposed that the parliament ratify the 1996 Convention on the employment of sailors to facilitate their employment on foreign labour markets.

The government launched proceedings to sign an agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development on a project aimed at developing the social welfare system.

The project is estimated at 45 million euros, of which 30 million would be secured through a loan from the International Bank.

The government also proposed that the parliament endorse a loan for an infrastructure project on the Croatian Adriatic islands, worth some 770 million kuna. The project will be financed by the Council of Europe's Development Bank and the government.
