SARAJEVO, April 15 (Hina) - The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Adnan Terzic, has said that his preoccupation with ongoing talks with the International Monetary Fund is the only reason why he cancelled his visit to Zagreb at the invitation of Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, where he was to have attended the Crans Montana Forum.

In its Friday issue, the Sarajevo daily Oslobodjenje carried an article headlined "I Know Sanader Will Understand", in which it quoted Terzic as saying that his failure to travel to Zagreb was not a sign of deteriorating relations between the two countries.

The Bosnian prime minister said that the talks with the IMF became imperative after he had confirmed his attendance at the Crans Montana Forum a month ago.

"I know my colleague Sanader will understand, because Croatia has problems with the IMF, too," Terzic said.

The newspaper said that Croatian government circles saw Terzic's visit to Zagreb as an opportunity to arrange a meeting between him and Sanader in order to kickstart negotiations on the implementation of the agreements on free trade, property relations and the port of Ploce.

The Bosnian prime minister insisted that there would have been no serious talks on these issues even if he had gone to Zagreb "because no bilateral meeting was scheduled".

"It is true these are current issues that should be dealt with, but in the last few months both Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia have been preoccupied with their obligations towards the European Union," Terzic said.
