condition on Saturday after developing a high fever, but was responding to
members of his staff, read the latest statement of the Holy See's press office
distributed to the press at 7.20 pm. "The clinical conditions of the
Holy Father remain very serious. In late morning, the high fever developed.
When addressed by members of his household, he responds correctly,'' read the
statement, signed by the head of the Holy See's press office, Joaqin Navarro
Valls.
Quoting medical sources, the Italian ANSA news agency reported this
evening that the Pope continued losing consciousness and that this state was
irreversible.
