ZAGREB, April 1 (Hina) - The majority of parliamentary parties on Friday did not support a bill of amendments to the Labour Act, by which the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) requested that Sunday be declared a non-working day.

The majority of the clubs agreed that the existing law , if followed persistently, adequately protected workers and their rights.

The HSP proposed that Sunday be treated as a holiday, stressing that this was regulated by an agreement between Croatia and the Holy See which, according to the party, was above the national legislation.

The amendments foresee a stronger protection of workers.

Only the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) supported the amendments.
