ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - Opposition parties in the Croatian
parliament on Wednesday criticised a bill on the court register, warning that
the proposed annulment of the obligation to submit a document confirming
regular tax payment for the registration of companies in the court register
could again give rise to criminal activities which occurred during the
privatisation process. The opposition claimed that putting out of
force the said obligation would result in complete lack of mechanisms which
control whether company owners meet their financial obligations towards the
state and their creditors, which is why they called for declaring the bill to
be in the first reading. The government proposed the adoption of the bill under
urgent procedure.
Under the bill, a competent commercial court would have to issue a
certificate confirming that the company is registered in 15 days' time.
Cooperatives and associations of cooperatives would also have to be
entered in the court register and the registration would have to be published
only in the National Gazette.
