The reform plan will be made public this summer, Polancec said after talks with officials of the Croatian Employers Association (HUP).
He stressed that investments needed to be made in promising industry branches, namely in small entreprise, tourism, processing and food-processing industries and in a reformed agricultural sector.
Asked whether the state would write off some companies' debts as has been the practice in the past, Polancec said the Finance Ministry and the Privatisation Fund were drawing up a model to resolve those issues, based on the experience of Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. The model should be presented soon, he said.
Polancec also announced the resolving of difficulties in some companies owned or partially owned by the state, such as the Suncani Hvar hotel chain, the PPK Valpovo agribusiness and the factory of chemicals and fertilisers Petrokemija Kutina.
Commenting on the postponement of Croatia's EU membership talks, Polancec said the postponement had negative consequences as seen in lower stock prices at domestic stock markets. The president of the Croatian Employers Association (HUP), Emil Tedeschi, said that "nothing catastrophic" had happened.
