Exports in January up 5.1 pct, imports up 4.7 pct

ZAGREB, March 6(Hina) - Croatia's exports in January 2005 were 3.3billion kuna, up 5.1 percent from January 2004, while imports amountedto 6.4 billion kuna, an increase of 4.7 percent, according topreliminary Central Bureau of Statistics figures.
ZAGREB, March 6(Hina) - Croatia's exports in January 2005 were 3.3 billion kuna, up 5.1 percent from January 2004, while imports amounted to 6.4 billion kuna, an increase of 4.7 percent, according to preliminary Central Bureau of Statistics figures.

Expressed in US dollars, which decreased 5.6 percent in value in relation to the kuna since January 2004, the growth rates are higher.

Imports, expressed in the US currency, stood at 577 million, up 11.3 percent from January 2004, while exports were 1.1 billion, up 10.9 percent

The foreign trade deficit in January this year was 3.1 billion kuna, or USD538 million, while the export-import ratio was 51.7 percent.

More than 90 percent of Croatia's January 2005 exports was generated by the manufacturing industry, whose exports of USD538 million were 10.8 percent higher than in January 2004.
