MOSTAR, March 21 (Hina) - The Presidency of the Croatian
Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) on Monday supported the Croat
member of the Bosnian collective presidency, Dragan Covic, whose resignation
was requested by the international community after the Bosnian Croat official
was indicted for abusing his position and assisting the Lijanovic meat industry
in tax evasion during his term in office as Finance Minister in the Federation
of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The party presidency asked Covic to continue
to promote dialogue and self-sustainable institutions in sovereign and
independent Bosnia, regardless of what the HDZ described as "unprincipled and
premeditated pressure".
Asked if Covic would resign over the scandal, the president of the HDZ
BiH, Barisa Colak, told reporters it was up to Colak to decide.
