Lozancic's call came after the British Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ian Cliff, had repeated on several occasions that Covic should resign as a member of the Presidency because he had recently been charged with abuse of office for assisting the Siroki Brijeg-based Lijanovic meat processing firm in evading the payment of customs while he was finance minister of the country's Muslim-Croat entity.
The letter said that "Bosnia-Herzegovina is in the position of a colonial protectorate in which some ambassadors accredited in Bosnia-Herzegovina want to run the country."
Lozancic called on Covic not to step down but to ensure that all institutions in the country stepped up their efforts in implementing reforms and protecting the stability and constitutional order of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
