Croatia has been given a negotiating framework, which is a big success and a step closer to the negotiations, Mesic said after a graduation ceremony at Vern College in Zagreb.
Commenting on cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal, Mesic said Croatia had only one outstanding issue, the runaway General Ante Gotovina. He underlined that state services were obliged to arrest him if he was in Croatia, but added that everything that had been done so far indicated that he was out of the country.
Asked about the growing number of Eurosceptics and the appearance of Gotovina posters, the president said the putting up of posters was organised and paid because some people were interested in isolating Croatia. "It will soon be found who is paying all this," he said.
