BRUSSELS, March 18 (Hina) - Five EU member countries have asked
Luxembourg's prime minister and European Council chair Jean-Claude Juncker to
put the issue of Croatia's accession on the agenda of the EU's summit in
Brussels next week, a source at current EU president Luxembourg told Hina on
Friday. The source was unable to say which five countries had made
the request. It said that Luxembourg had still not decided about the request,
but added that Croatia would most likely be discussed after the other items of
the agenda of the Tuesday-Wednesday summit.
No formal decision about Croatia should be expected, said the
source.
European Union foreign ministers on Wednesday postponed the start of
Croatia's entry negotiations, scheduled for March 17, and decided they would be
opened once the Council established that Croatia was cooperating fully with
the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague.
