The protest rally was organised by the Action of Social Democrats of Croatia party, whose leader Zlatko Klaric demanded the government ask the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a loan to settle the debt to pensioners. "They should either settle the debt or resign," he said.
Klaric accused the incumbent authorities of incompetence, inhumanity, and of not respecting the Constitutional and Administrative Courts' decisions on the settlement of the debt owed to pensioners.
He also accused the Croatian Pensioners Party of having signed an agreement on political bargaining and not cooperation with the ruling Croatian Democratic Union.
