ZAGREB, Feb 28 (Hina) - The nongovernmental organisation Franciscans
International, which gathers Franciscan priests from around the world, on
Monday supported the request of the Council of Franciscan Communities in
Croatia and Bosnia that Croatia withdraws from the Druzba Adria projectFranciscan International issued a statement today saying that the Druzba
Adria project was unacceptable from the environmental point of view and that
it could pollute the Adriatic Sea and coast.
The association requested of the Croatian government to walk out from
the project and thus contribute to the preservation of the environment in the
Adriatic.
The organisation sent its request to the ambassador in the Croatian
Mission in the UN, Gordan Markotic, in February, the statement said.
