ZAGREB, Feb 11 (Hina) - There is no news or an official confirmation
of the death of Croatian truck driver Ivan Pavcevic in Iraq, Vinko Ljubicic,
the head of the Foreign Ministry's department for the coordination and
monitoring of diplomatic missions and consular offices, told Hina on
Friday. The 54-year-old Pavcevic was allegedly killed in the shelling of a US
convoy.
Jutarnji List daily said today that Pavcevic's son Zlatko, who had also
driven a truck in Iraq, had returned to Croatia. Zlatko's truck was damaged in
an attack near Mosul, where he stayed, while his father went ahead.
Ljubicic was unable to verify that but said he believed it to be
correct.
The first Croatian driver killed in Iraq, where he was transporting
goods for US troops, was Dalibor Burazovic. He was killed near Mosul last
October.
