The 578-page book contains many facts from previously unknown sources on the history of the Jewish community in Zagreb between the two world wars, and illustrates the Jewish contribution to the economic, social, political and cultural development of the Croatian capital.
Goldstein said that most of the facts included in the book were taken from documents available in the State Archives, which he said was why he chose it as the venue of the launch.
The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Stjepan Mesic.
Asked by reporters about Wednesday's session of the National Security Council, Mesic said that the Council would meet every week to hear reports from all intelligence agencies, relevant ministries and the chief public prosecutor on progress in efforts to find and arrest fugitive general Ante Gotovina, who is wanted by the Hague war crimes tribunal.
