Minister Matulovic Dropulic, who on Wednesday visited Sibenik-Knin County, held a news conference with local authorities. She told reporters that over 300 unlawfully built objects had been torn down in 2004.
"We don't like that job, but we must do it in order to preserve areas intended for agriculture, economic development and tourism. Unlawfully built objects will be legalised wherever it is possible... In the coastal area we did not demolish any facility for permanent accommodation, and I believe we will not do it in the future either. What was demolished were summer cottages that have infested our coast. We will not allow their construction in the vicinity of the sea any more," the minister said.
She also said that zoning plans in coastal counties had to be drawn up until the end of this May, and in other parts of Croatia until the end of December.
