Princess Margriet, sister of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, was given the Prince Branimir Order with chain in her residence at Het Loo in Apeldoorn for outstanding contribution to the development of relations between Croatia and its citizens with other countries and peoples by providing unselfish humanitarian aid during and after the Homeland War, it was said.
The award was presented by representatives of the Croatian Embassy on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Croatian Red Cross.
The princess voiced interest in the provision of assistance in mine-clearing.
Princess Margriet helped Croatia in her capacity as deputy chair of the Dutch Red Cross and chair of the Standing Commission of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent.
