These are the results of a survey on labour force and a comparison between Croatia and other European countries made by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
The employment rate in the 30 surveyed countries in 2003 ranged between 51.2 percent in Poland and 85 percent in Iceland.
Along with Iceland, Switzerland tops the list with an employment rate of 77.8 percent. The two countries are followed by Norway with 75.5 percent, Denmark with 75.1 percent, the Netherlands with 73.5 percent and Sweden with 72.9 percent.
Apart from Poland, the lowest employment rates in the EU were reported in Malta (54.2 percent), Italy (56.1 percent), Hungary (57 percent), Slovakia (57.7 percent) and Greece (57.8 percent).
